5 Things To Know Before Heading to Zurich Switzerland
Without a doubt in my mind, Switzerland is one of the most underrated countries in Europe. While it is expensive, it is worth it, and if you've ever had to pay Las Vegas' strip prices you may not even notice it, but back to Switzerland. Maybe one of the only countries to have it's own unique culture entirely, before heading to Switzerland here is what you need to know.
They use the Swiss Franc, not Euros. The Swiss Franc is also artwork and puts most currency to shame. If you are in the more tourist parts of Switzerland like Bern or Zurich, you may be able to pay (in most cases) with euros, but you will be given change in Swiss Francs.
Yes, it is as good as everyone says it is. In fact, it doesn't matter if you eat from one of the more famous chocolate shops or something from the grocery store, it just tastes hands down better. The best chocolates can be found at Sprungli, Laderach, and Teuscher.
3. Be On Time
Timeliness is not something the Swiss take lightly. They are sticklers for the time, and even one minute of lateness will come with an apology. You will see it with public transportation, tours, and meetings. The Swiss do not fancy being late and hope you will return the favor.
You will know it when you step foot in the country. There is no way to have such beautiful country and cities without being eco-friendly. You will not see trash cans, but you will see a lot of recycling centers. If you don't know what goes where, ask, or they may call you out. They are very proud of the steps they take to protect their country.
Do not be afraid to wander. This is one of the safest countries in the world, and wandering a little bit off the beaten bath will give you your taste of Switzerland that no tourist site could every show you.
